When does the minimum wage apply?
Do you, as a private person, hire someone for work in and around your home, such as cleaning, garden maintenance, babysitting, walking the dog or doing groceries, and does that person work for you fewer than 4 days a week? Then the Dutch scheme for domestic services (Regeling dienstverlening aan huis) applies. You pay at least the minimum wage for your helper's age plus 8% holiday pay. Your helper builds up holiday days, and if they are ill you keep paying for up to 6 weeks. You don't withhold wage tax; your helper declares the income to the Belastingdienst (the Dutch Tax Administration) themselves.
Jobs in the house, such as assembling a wardrobe or painting, and moving help are not covered by that scheme. For those you agree the price freely. The guide prices in the calculator are indications for local help.
