Grocery shopping falls under the Dutch scheme for services in the home (Regeling dienstverlening aan huis) if someone works for you less than 4 days a week: you pay at least the minimum wage for your helper's age, plus 8% holiday pay. The groceries themselves you of course pay separately.

How to find grocery shopping help

  1. Post your request for free

For whom, how often, which shop and on which day. Posting for a parent? Say so.

  2. Meet first

Read the replies and arrange to meet first. Especially for help for a parent, you want to meet someone first.

  3. Make a regular arrangement

Day, shopping list, how the money for the groceries works and what the help costs.

Tips for grocery help that runs smoothly

  • Sort out the grocery money in advance

A fixed amount up front, a debit card from a separate account, or paying back with the receipt: agree it beforehand.

  • Work with a fixed list

A fixed basic list with brands saves phone calls from the shop.

  • Ask the municipality when it is about care

Does someone need help on a long-term basis? Then also check with the municipality's Wmo desk what is possible.
